Mandy hits 60

Woot, big occasion today. Mandymoore (aka our kin leader, aka me) hit 60 tonight while accompanied by Celerieniel and Vorand.

We were down in the Waterworks of Moria (aka Moria’s sewer) when it all went down.  I had 1/2 a bar left and was making it towards the city ready to turn in some quests and hit 60.  Then all of a sudden I hit 60 because my Moria worm slayer deed completed.

Not a bad way to go, but especially nice because Cel and Vor were with me.  It’s always fun to hit these achievements and milestones with friends.

One of my first kills as a 60. Technically Vorands kill, me taking a pic and some item XP, so just as good.

Now, lets go for 70! (albeit in a year or so from now)

First Pure Kin Card Dum Run Recap

Hey I know it’s been a while since the last blog update, but we’re certainly not short on news.

Yesterday we successfully finished our first impromptu CD (Carn Dum) run with only kin members.  This is quite an accomplishment and definitely something to be proud of.

This CD run was led by Torchholder, an experienced fellowship leader, and our newest Raid leader.  Torch provided a solid, calm voice ensuring we accomplished  our goals and didn’t get frustrated at setbacks.  He did very well in his first test and I know I can’t wait to do more CD, Rift, and other runs with Torch and the rest of the kin.

That there is an 30k elite surrounded by 8 10k elites. Not that we fought them though.

Oh and BTW, I got the slime and the kin house got a new decoration:

Next up – more CD runs and soon, a pure kin Rift run!

The Kin welcomes back an old friend…

A little ancient history …

About 5 months ago, I was new to lotro and didn’t know my way around at all. I was trying to rescue this chick trapped in a cage outside of Bree and had no luck trying to pull it off solo.  But as chance would have it, I saw two other adventurers in the same area, Salija and Segolas. I asked them for help and together, we rescued the chick.  We ended up questing for a solid 4-5 hours that night and cleared all the Bree quests (except GB of course).

After that night, I quested with Segolas once more but didn’t see him online after that. And as far as Salija, well I think you know how that story went – we formed the Refugees and fast forward a few months, you have the incredibly impressive kin as we know it today.

But whatever happened to Segolas? Well, today I logged in as Britneys and started mopping up the Forsaken Inn quests. I stopped at the Inn and looked at the various patrons and low and behold there was Segolas, only a few levels higher than when we last quested. Turns out he went on a lotro break for a few months.

Today, Segolas accepted our invite to the Kin. Let’s all welcome Segolas, an old friend who played an incidental but formative role in our kin’s history.

Tomb of Elendil run

So Cel, Lindsay, some dude from the alliance and some other people did the dreaded Tomb of Elendil last night. 6 went in, 2 came out.  Guess which two survived:

Yeah that’s right, the 2 refugees survived and everyone else died. That’s how we roll: ride or die. (And take belated screenshots).  Woot woot holla. Or something.

Sweet Angmar swamp run last night

Last night Elo, Gent, Cel, Mandy (me), and some dude from the Servants of the Secret fire ran a pretty sweet Angmar swamp run.  We cleared out all Malenthad quests in like a little over an hour, including taking out the elite master ironscale and the silk lady.
